A Dental Crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. At times known as a ‘cap’ Crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. A Crown could be used for a number of other reasons, for instance: you may have discoloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth you may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect what is left of the tooth.

Dental Bridges are essentially false teeth which are held together by two porcelain crowns. Conventional bridges are made by crowning the teeth either side of the gap and attaching a false tooth in the middle. They are fixed in the same way as crowns and can normally be done in up to 3 appointments. Dentures are replacements for missing teeth that can be taken out and put back in at the patient wishes. In some cases, depending on a patient’s unique circumstances, dentures are the best available option to restore their appearance and dental function.

There are a variety of different options available, such as complete removable dentures, implant supported dentures, partial dentures or over dentures. These can be worn during the day and removed at night.
